Oh the Joys of Boys

I got a call this morning and my computer is finally fixed. Yea!! Hopefully I'll have time tonight to get all my pictures off my camera because I have alot of blogging to catch up on for the kids blogs and mine. For now I'll share what Collin said yesterday morning while I was watering my plants.

Me: Collin don't touch the hose.
(Collin picks up the hose and brings it to me.)
Me: What part of "don't touch it" do you not understand?
Collin: The handle.

Hmmmm...I tell myself he's still tired and doesn't know what he was saying but this happens alot. He has selective hearing. He hears what he wants to hear or just doesn't hear at all. I wonder where he gets that from. (Eric) I've told him he can't play with the hose any more after he soaked the two neighbor girls. I specifically told him not to play with the hose last week. I went inside to chat with the girls parents and we return outside a few minutes later to wet children. I asked Collin why he was spraying the water after I told him not to and he replied, "Oh yeah, I forgot." Followed by an innocent smile. Parenting...you gotta love it.

Is Chivalry Dead?

Eric and I had a weird experience yesterday when we were shopping in the mall. We were in line waiting for our turn with the cashier. The woman before us was paying for her stuff and accidentally dropped some of her money. Eric being the nice guy that he was bent down to pick it up for her. He kindly said, "Here you go ma'am," before setting it on the counter next to her. At this she fiercely whacked the money off of the counter and said in a snotty tone, "My husband doesn't like me touching money that someone else has touched." Ummm, excuse me but do you know how many people have touched that money before my husband did? It was such a weird response and I have to mention that she had to touch the money to whack it off the counter. Eric said next time he won't offer to help. Sheesh, you can't even be nice to people these days...

Atomic Days Weekend!

Atomic Days is usually the biggest weekend of the year in the little town of Arco, ID. We celebrate it every year by going to the parade, the park activities and BBQ, the rodeo, etc. For those of you that ask, "What is atomic days?" I'll tell you. On July 17,1955 the tiny bumpkin town of Arco was the first city in the world to be lit by atomic power. It was generated by a boiling water reactor and carried over the power lines. How cool is that? I live near the first city with atomic power!
***

The kids look forward to the parade every year. The kids scored more candy on the 4th though since there was less competition. The fire trucks sounded their engines at the beginning which spooked Carlee a bit. Once the candy started flying she was happy though (and had a mouthful!)

***

Next we took the kids over to the park to play and eat a BBQ made by the locals. They had soooo much fun playing and they didn't want to leave! They needed some sleep before the rodeo and it was a good thing we did because it was dark by the time we got out. I'm just really disappointed that my bull riding pics didn't work. They were blurry for some reason but my buckin' bronco pics turned out. Go figure, the ones I wanted the most were beyond blurry. I guess I've got to sit down and see how to work my new camera...

After the rodeo Collin asked me if he could be a bull rider. Ummm...maybe not Collin!

Carlee found a good spot under the park toys and stayed there almost the whole time!

This weekend definitely wore me out. I almost fell asleep at church today because I was so tired. Play hard; hopefully sleep hard!

Atomic Day Rodeo 08

Little Carlee was such an angel at the rodeo! I usually feel like I have to hog tie her down to get her to stay still for two minutes. She was perfectly content to sit, eat popcorn and cheer. She yelled, "Yee haw!" alot. Mr. Wayne on the other hand didn't want to sit still and kept asking when it was over. He liked it though even with only taking three steps on the stick horse race. He didn't even go around the barrel the little knucklehead! I think he loved picking on cousin Metny and Matt the most! All in all it was a fun evening and I'm glad we went.

Wall-E Fun!

  • Boy meets girl.
  • Boy falls head over heels for girl.
  • Girl tries to blast him into a million pieces.
  • Girl gives boy a second look.
  • Team up to save earth.
  • Girl falls head over heels for boy.

This was the premise for the movie Wall-E. Collin is insisting on a Wall-E Birthday party next week for his big number 5 so I thought we'd better take him to see the movie. I'm glad we did because it was such a cute movie! It did move a little slow at the beginning when Wall-E was all alone but I loved to see his determination and cunning despite his loneliness. Wall-E was such a good character. Simple, pure, persistent, and lovable. The graphics were amazing too. Pixar Studios you did it again! I think my little Carlee thought parts of the movie were sad because she was gripping to me like nothing else! Anytime she hears mellow sad sounding music she needs lots of snuggles. The kids enjoyed it and Collin can't wait for his birthday!

Halfway Thru the Season!

Two weeks down, two weeks to go. This years t-ball season has been alot more fun than last year. Collin understands it a little better (well, except for putting the bat down to run to base!) and is enjoying himself alot more. He loves getting outside and playing with all the other kids. It's a busy time for mom though having to go two nights a week, but it's worth it to see how happy it makes him. Little Carlee is just as excited. It's hard to contain her excitement actually. She wants to be in on the action and play too. Next year sweetie!GOOD HIT COLLIN!

Annual Hang Gliders Week

Every year pilots from all over the country load up their vehicles and come to the lovely little town of Moore, Idaho. They come determined to test out their skills on the world class King Mountain range. King mountain has two launch zones. The lower range is at 7,400 feet and the upper is at 8,100 feet. This goes to show you that even in a small rural area we can find excitement!
***
I remember when Eric and I were still dating he drove me up the trail to the lower launch. For someone terrified of heights this was not a good thing. Sure I was fine when I got up there but it was the drive that I couldn't handle! I had a major anxiety attack on the way down. (Crazy driver!) Luckily they have made a better path up the mountain that isn't as scary. I really admire the pilots that can gather up the nerve to jump off a mountain. I love to watch them but I think I'll keep my feet on the ground...unless I'm in an airplane!

Eric took Collin up on the mountain to watch some of the action. Collin said he loved it!

Blaine - One of the pilots we know.

This shows you how they run and then have to tuck their feet in.
